3 Secrets to Managing Your Unit Facebook Group | Part 2
Hey, y’all! For those of you who have been following along in our 3 Secrets to Managing Your Unit Facebook Group Series, we found in Part I that consistency is the foundation to having success in any aspect of business, and more specifically, in terms of our Unit Facebook groups.

Our sweet (pretend) friend, Director Dee-Dee, focused on consistency in her group but is still having some troubles:
Anchor, I did everything you said, but my team isn’t interacting with the posts as much as I thought they would. What do I do?
That’s a great question, Dee-Dee, and I have just the answer!
Once we have become consistent, we can turn our focus toward increasing engagement.
Engagement within your Facebook group specifically looks like comments and reactions to your posts, as well as posts by people that are not you.

You can encourage engagement and interaction in your group by using calls to action. Simply put, these are posts that ask your team to do something. This can look like asking members to:
Share a story, or an opinion
Comment something specific like an emoji or a fun gif
Post a photo in the comments, or in the group as a whole
You see these kinds of posts all the time, and you may not even realize it! Have you ever asked for a great recipe for chicken?...Or perhaps seen a friend’s post asking what everyone’s favorite ice cream flavor is? (Note to self: don’t write a blog post hungry!) All engagement can be helpful, even if it’s just for fun! After all, all work and no play makes Director Dee Dee a dull girl!
Encouraging comments and asking for opinions and responses creates a conversation between consultants, and this leads to a self-sustaining atmosphere (the ultimate goal!). At first, you’ll find that you’re the primary voice within your group--you may even feel like you’re up on a soap box a bit. It can feel lonely at the top, but as your team watches you consistently (there’s that word again!) post, comment, and interact, they will feel more confident in joining the conversation, too.
Over time, as people respond to your calls to action, they will begin seeing each other as a resource, in addition to you. You will find yourself able to take a step back and allow the momentum you’ve created to foster creativity and leadership within your team. True leaders don’t create followers. They create leaders...And as a beautiful leader, you, sister, have a powerful message to share!
Did you know that engagement has a tactical benefit, too?
In fact, engagement has a tactical benefit in spreading that message: Facebook decides which posts it thinks people want to see based on how many people are engaging with it. It assumes that because other people like it, more people want to see it.
What this all boils down to is this: When Facebook sees engagement on your posts, it shows it to more people, therefore, spreading your message to a wider audience and encouraging further conversation!
